Useful theories

How can you determine the usefulness of a theory? It is a complex, if not impossible, choice. However, by considering the construction of a model based on systemic aspects and the corporate framework, we can already narrow down the number of proposals.

Here are three criteria1:

  1. The theory has stood the test of time.
  2. It is relevant to the group or team.
  3. It is currently in vogue.

The first criterion is essential as it indirectly demonstrates the validity of the theory. It has not been disproven by evidence to the contrary.

The second criterion is also important as it supports a systemic approach, which is still uncommon in motivation studies.

The third criterion is also significant, allowing us to examine our beliefs and fantasies regarding certain models.

These three criteria are not exclusive. The following theories do not necessarily meet all three criteria.ères.
